Job Title: Business Development Manager
Functional Area: SVI
OLAM international is a leading agri-business operating from seed to shelf in 70 countries, supplying food and industrial raw materials to over 16,200 customers worldwide. Our team of 62,500 employees has built a leadership position in many businesses including cocoa, coffee, cashew, rice and cotton.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and building new areas of business within our company. This role will hold responsibility for both creative and critical thinking that will expand our product offerings within new, innovative categories of the food industry. This position will require honed relationship management skills, passion for the food industry, technical skills regarding food production/ingredients, and collaborative project management skills to lead projects to successful completion.
Identify new business opportunities and begin long-term partnerships for current and upcoming Olam product portfolios
Present/represent technical aspects of food products to customers and expand current value of ingredient portfolio across multiple categories
Monitor trends within the industry and consumer groups
Execute account strategies, plans, and forecasts for assigned accounts and customers. Develop and implement strategies for acquiring new accounts.
Work with technical, operations and culinary personnel to assure alignment of sales strategy and product offerings with technical and operational capabilities.
Engage the Olam network (e.g., cross-functional team members/critical functional resources) to execute business plans, resolve issues, and deliver solutions that meet or exceed customer needs and drive profitable growth.
Bachelor degree in food science preferred, but will be open to a Bachelor in business or related field from an accredited university
3-5+ years of experience with complex food processing, foodservice, co-manufacturing experience a plus
Demonstrated experience in the industrial food ingredients market is a plus
Business-to-business sales experience; strong general business capabilities, and analytical/technical skills
Strong self-initiative; ability to operate at a high level with minimum supervision.
Willingness to travel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience managing relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels
