Job Summary

Provide leadership, direction, instruction, standards and continuous improvement for all domestic divisions of GM Nameplate in quality activities and quality regulatory affairs, ensuring compliance with GMN’s Quality Management System. Responsible for establishing strategic plans, policies and procedures at all levels to ensure that the QMS will meet or exceed internal and external customer’s needs and expectations. Manage a corporate quality staff in achieving corporate goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Responsible for establishing and conveying strategic plans, policies and procedures at all levels to ensure that the GMN Quality Management System (QMS) will meet or exceed internal and external customer’s needs and expectations.
Ensure quality compliance of domestic divisions to regulatory and customer requirements, and GMN’s documented Quality Management System as communicated in the Corporate Quality Manual. Does this by coordination with GMN Quality Divisional leadership to ensure appropriate understanding of the requirements, developing reporting/measurements and processes to determine compliance, running audits as needed.
Provide leadership and direction on for all domestic divisions of GM Nameplate in quality activities and quality regulatory requirements by developing and publishing processes, adapting systems (software and documentation), ensuring appropriate knowledge thru training, and staying current with customer and regulatory requirements. Leads the standardization of quality system processes across all divisions and develops and executes continuous improvement plans in regards to the QMS.
Oversees, directs, and leads a staff to ensure the Quality requirements, current and future, are met during all manufacturing processes by production personnel and support staff. Ensures the Quality department staff of all divisions have the commensurate knowledge and training to stay current, in compliance (for example with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and able to incorporate day-to-day activities that meet the QMS requirements. Coordinate the activities of divisional quality management to develop organizational learning; enhancing skills of associates in problem solving, root cause, & error prevention.
Maintain and communicate corporate quality metrics to leadership to ensure clear visibility and understanding of our current state of product quality and of the quality system.
Develop and complete plans, as approved by the Executive Committee, to address critical areas for QMS improvement via an annual Corporate Quality Assurance Plan.
Protect the company’s brand by exercising judgment in dealing with unusual cases or those involving significant cost.

Required Education and Experience

BS degree or better with focus on Quality Systems or Manufacturing Engineering preferred. 5+ years documented experience in Quality Management in lieu of degree will be considered
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing Quality Systems, process control, large-scale project management, including lean manufacturing principles
Knowledge of production in a job shop environment preferred
Familiar with all applicable regulatory requirements related to Quality

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Experienced in a variety of problem solving methodologies
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9000 family of standards including ISO13485, AS9100
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality at all times
Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Windows, including Excel and PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Good math and analytical skills
Excellent decision making skills
Ability to plan and organize work activities with a focus on efficiency
Must be able to lead and work in a team environment
